Mission
Religions for Peace Japan addresses global challenges, such as peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, and environmental protection, through interfaith dialogue and cooperation. Our initiatives span a wide range of fields, including conflict resolution, the prevention of human trafficking, environmental sustainability, poverty eradication, disaster relief and recovery, and peace education.
Vision
Religions for Peace Japan envisions a world where diverse faith communities work hand in hand to build lasting peace, justice, and human dignity. We reflect deeply on the exclusivity and self-righteousness that religions have sometimes held in the past, and we seek to foster encounters rooted in tolerance and mutual respect. Through interfaith dialogue and the collective wisdom that emerges from mutual understanding, we advance religious cooperation for peace. In collaboration with the United Nations and various partners, we actively engage in studying and addressing global challenges that threaten peace, including human rights violations, environmental destruction, ethnic and regional conflicts, the arms trade, and poverty. We work in solidarity with other organizations to pursue peaceful resolutions and reconciliation in areas of conflict around the world. Recognizing the sanctity of life and the inherent dignity of every human being, we commit ourselves to acts of compassion, service, and support for others. Furthermore, we are dedicated to peace education rooted in the values of faith, aiming to nurture individuals who can act with a truly global perspective and contribute to creating a more just, inclusive, and peaceful world.
