The IPCR International Seminar 2026 took place in Seoul from January 21 to 23, bringing together around 60 religious leaders and researchers from Japan, China, and South Korea.

Under the theme Challenges for Building Peace Community in Northeast Asia,” the seminar explored a variety of regional issues over three sessions.

Session 1 focused on AI and ethics, noting challenges such as bias and lack of transparency in AI systems, and highlighting the importance of a human-centered approach supported by strong institutional frameworks.

Session 2 addressed human dignity, suggesting that recognizing the inherent wisdom of people and fostering awareness of equality can promote respect for others and contribute to peace.

Session 3 examined interfaith dialogue, emphasizing that sincere engagement with history and ongoing conversations are key foundations for regional coexistence.

Throughout the seminar, participants reaffirmed their commitment to the responsibilities and mission of religious leaders in these challenging times. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on a fundamental question: “What kind of human being is needed in this era?”
